Leading Democrats have heaped praise on new Zealand’s Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern to the Kiwi-leader reports that her country was immediately banning “military-style semi-automatic weapons” after last week’s attack that killed 50 people in two mosques.
Ardern announced on Wednesday the weapons that would be banned, guns in addition to “every storm,” among other things, firearms, adding that the legislation is being prepared, and she expects you to act the law, April 11.
“We will ban all high-capacity magazines. We prohibit all of the parts, the said with the ability to convert a semi-automatic, or any other kind of weapon, in a military-style semi-automatic weapon,” the Prime Minister. “In short, any semi-automatic weapon used in the terrorist attack on Friday, is banned in this country.”

Sen Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rep.-Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez, D-NY, were among the crowd of progressive voices, the celebrated Ardern the announcement, and they also used it as a way to call for stricter gun laws in the United States
“This is what looks like real action to stop gun violence. We must follow the lead of new Zealand, take on the NRA and ban the sale and distribution of assault weapons in the United States,” Sanders tweeted.
Ocasio-Cortez supplemented together a video of Ardern’s announcement of the ban: “Sandy Hook happened 6 years ago, and we can not hold even in the Senate, a vote on universal background checks w/ #HR8.
“Christchurch has happened, and within a few days new Zealand traded weapons of war from the consumer market.

In response to Ocasio-Cortez, NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch said: “This is also a completely different country that does not have the right to bear arms, as one of the cornerstones of the Constitution, in addition to numerous state laws. It is also what looks like the confiscation and ban most semi-auto, also.”
The ban in new Zealand comes six days after an armed man opened fire on two mosques in Christchurch. The massacre left 50 people were killed and dozens of others injured.
Ardern, said the man suspected of the attack bought his weapons legally with a standard gun license and changed their capacity through the use of a 30-round magazine, “essentially, you transformed into a military-style semi-automatic weapons.”
The 28-year-old suspects bought the weapons “through a simple online purchase,” she said, and “took a significant number of lives, the in the first line with two weapons.”

The alleged shooter, Fox News is not naming, has been charged with one count of murder in the attacks, to new Zealand’s deadliest mass shootings in modern history. It is expected that additional charges at his next appearance before the court 5. April.
