Benny Lindelauf and Ali Benjamin win the Gold List
Writers Benny Lindelauf and Ali Benjamin have the Golden List 2017 won. Lindelauf for his book How Tortot are vissenhart lost and Benjamin for Suzy and the jellyfish.
The price for jeugliteratuur is an amount of 1,500 euros. The jury was formed by Evy of Touch, Ingrid Bon, Jörgen Apperloo, Jozefien the Reads and chairman Janneke van der Veer.
Lindelauf won in the category of originally Dutch-language books and Benjamin in the category of translated books. About How Tortor are vissenhart lost, writes the jury: “a true storyteller Benny Lindelauf and illustrator Ludwig Volbeda in word and picture the folly of the oorlogsbedrijf. The story is told in beautiful language, told in a light-ironic, expressive and without bombast.”
The jury calls the book of Ali Benjamin moving. “Suzy and the jellyfish is a clearly written story about bereavement, a theme that is in exceptionally original manner is elaborated. The almost obsessive manner in which Suzy is busy with her kwallenonderzoek is not only understandable, it moves also, without the pathetic or sentimental. Suzy and the jellyfish is a complete book in all respects convincing and touching.”
