“Le Ciel Flamand”, the second feature film from director-screenwriter Peter Monsaert, has been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) which takes place from 8 to 18 september. The film was given its world premiere, reports the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) Tuesday.
The film has been selected for the competitive TIFF Discovery programme, in which a selection of wereldfilms of rising young and upcoming directing talent that, according to TIFF in the holes must be held.
“The selection for Toronto, one of the most important film festivals in the world, is a fantastic award,” says Peter Monsaert in the press release of the flemish audiovisual fund. “Together with the display on the festival of San Sebastian, this is the perfect international launch for my film. I certainly hope that it is not the end of the foreign story, and that ‘Le Ciel Flamand” a great international career ahead.”
After “Offline” is “Le Ciel Flamand” the second feature of Monsaert. The film focuses on the lives of Monique and her daughter Sylvie, who put together a baanbordeel operate. Eline, the six-year-old daughter, Sylvie, is fascinated by the mysterious workplace of her mother and grandmother, but there should never within. A dramatic event puts the family ties are put under pressure.
Wim Willaert, Sara Vertongen, Esra Vandenbussche and Ingrid De Vos play the lead roles.
