Beijing wants to steenkolenverbruik with 30 percent to smog
The Chinese capital Beijing will this year the use of coal by 30 per cent to the air pollution fight, made mayor Cai Qi, the Sunday known.
Despite repeated promises from the Chinese government that more stringent will be taken against air pollution, sighs, large parts of the north and middle of China this winter under blankets of smog, which for days can persist.
Cai told state news agency Xinhua that the government this year more steps will convert, including the reduction of steenkolengebruik by the inhabitants of seven villages around Beijing to help with the transition to clean energy.
“We are going to in fact try out the use of coal this year to zero in six large districts and in the southern plains of Beijing,” said Cai. “We will use coal with 30 per cent to less than seven million tonnes in 2017.”
Also will this year the 300,000 obsolete motor vehicles in the Chinese capital of the road will be removed and will the purchase of energy efficient cars to be promoted.
According to Cai, it is important that there is better regional cooperation in the fight against smog. “It is an urgent task for Beijing and neighboring areas to join together the air quality in the region to improve.”
