On march 27, start, Felix van Groeningen with the shooting of the film ‘Beautiful Boy’, based on ‘Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction’, the memoir of global bestsellers David Sheff and Nic Sheff.
Next month the recordings of ‘Beautiful Boy’ from the start, the first American film by Felix van Groeningen.
The story is based on the successful autobiography, ‘Beautiful Boy: A Father’s Journey Through His Son’s Addiction,” in which a young Californiër – Nic Sheff – his crystal meth addiction from the cloth does, and his father David Sheff – his own agony as a parent of an addicted child describes.
The lead roles in ‘Beautiful Boy’ will be played by Steve Carell, known for the American version of ‘The Office’ and more recent movies ‘Foxcatcher’ and ‘The Big Short’, creeps into the skin of the father. Timothee Chalamet (‘Interstellar’, ‘Homeland’, ‘Call me by your name’) plays the role of the son.
Van Groeningen is ready for his first American adventure. “I’ve really been looking forward to this new exciting step, and can hardly believe that it is now finally so far. The film is shot on location in Los Angeles and San Francisco. The Ghent-based director takes his hard workers Ruben Impens, Director of Photography, and editor Nico Leunen . ‘Beautiful Boy’ is the successor of ‘Belgica’.
