BEAUMONT, Texas – Police say 13 hip new bikes intended for poor children in south-eastern Texas were stolen, but recovered just in time to as gifts.
Beaumont police say no one has been arrested for the theft reported Thursday morning by officials with a group of volunteers called a Different Place. Police say a storage unit where the bikes were kept was broken into.
Officer Haley Tomorrow says the bikes had to be presented later Thursday as part of a Place Other Christmas Giving Program. She says officers composed of the declaration of theft, than you got a tip in the middle of the investigation.
The bikes were a few blocks away, in an abandoned house.
Tomorrow says the bikes were returned to a Place Other officials in time for the presentation to the young people.
