The two remaining Beastie Boys, Adam ‘Ad-Rock’ Horovitz and Michael ‘Mike D’ Diamond, in april, three performances in the United States.
The shows are inspired by the recently published memoirs of the two, writes Billboard.
“We have written this book and instead of chapters to read in bookstores, we went on stage,” said Diamond during technologyfestival SXSW. “But we forgot to film.”
The now-announced shows will be filmed by Spike Jonze, who had previously made the video for the song Sabotage directed. The first gig on 5 april in Philadelphia. The other two follow on 8 and 9 april in New York.
Beastie Boys started in 2013, already have book
Diamond and Horovitz started in 2013 already in the book, which is actually in 2015 would come out of it.
The memoirs are not just about the history of the group, from the start time to the highlights such as the inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but also about the death of co-founder Adam Yauch, aka ‘MCA’ in 2012.
The Beastie Boys were more than thirty years ago, founded by Diamond, Horowitz, and Yauch, who each other from school knew. In 1986 they released their debut album, with the well-known hit (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To y).
