Beachvolleyballers Flier and Van Iersel to the last 32 at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS
Manon Flier and Marleen van Iersel have Monday the last 32 reached on the world championships of beach volleyball in Vienna.
The Dutch women won the third and final team contest in three sets by the Italian duo of Marta Menegatti and Rebecca Diane Perry: 21-18, 22-24 and 15-12.
Flier and Van Iersel finished with five points as second in group G, one point behind the Canadian women Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes.
The three other Dutch couples and the world cup play Tuesday their last group matches. Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen take it as a fifteenth-seeded Polish duo of Grzegorz Fijalek and Michal Bryl in order to profit in the group. The Dutch pair won the previous two groepsduels.
Madeleine Meppelink and Sophie van Gestel have their last team contest to win in order to be allowed to. That is also true for Christiaan Varenhorst and Maarten van Garderen, who with a wildcard are admitted to the tournament.
