Beachvolleyballers Brouwer and Meeuwsen open world cup with victory
Beachvolleyballers Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen are the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in Vienna Friday started with a victory.
The Dutch couple, in 2013 and world champion in 2016 is good for olympic bronze, won his first team contest of the Uruguayanen Mauricio Sebastian Vieyto and Marco Cairus in two sets, 21-15 and 22-20.
Brewer had earlier this month in the U.s. Long Beach with an injury to his rechterbovenbeen, but just in time recovered. Next Sunday we play the Dutch in their second group competition.
Christiaan Varenhorst and Maarten van Garderen seemed Friday on the opening day of the world CHAMPIONSHIPS just to go stunt. The Dutch won the first set against the fourth-placed Brazilian couple Evandro/André and continued also in the second set for a long time. Finally won the Brazilians the first groepsduel however, with the 2-1: 20-22, 23-21 and 15-7.
Evandro was together with his previous partner Pedro two years ago and third at the world cup in The Hague. After the Games, Rio, he went on with André, that his world CHAMPIONSHIP debut.
Also Varenhorst and Van Garderen are Sunday to move again. They will then play against the Mexicans Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen.
Flier and Van Iersel
When the women walked Manon Flier and Marleen van Iersel in their first team contest against a defeat. The seventh placed Canadian players Sarah Pavan and Melissa Humana-Paredes were the Dutch duo in two sets of the boss: 21-13 and 23-21.
Flier and Van Iersel come Saturday, once again in action, against the Chinese pair Yue/Wang. The Dutch pair placed not directly for the world cup, but was in the second instance, still allowed by a deregistration of the Russian duo Evgenia Ukolova and Anastasia Barsuk.
On the basis of the European ranking went to the world cup ticket to the Flier and Van Iersel.
