BBC invests € 38 million in young media consumers
The BBC is the programming and services for children hands. That made the British public service broadcasting Monday night known. The broadcaster must be future-proof to be made and prepare for competition with Netflix and Amazon.
For the youngest viewers to bind wants the BBC for the next three years, 34 million pounds (38 million euros) extra to invest. The precise nature of the investment is at a later point in time to be announced, but the channel speaks of the “largest investment in our youngest viewers in a generation”.
British children and young people to watch a quarter less television than their parents. Also watch them in a different way, by, for example, between screens to switch and so programs and information otherwise to do or to share with their friends via social media. A large part of the new money is, therefore, also to online content such as video, live events, blogs and vlogs, but also games and apps.
New programs for young people must now also of British soil, so the director-general of the BBC, Tony Hall. “Otherwise, our culture will be defined by production companies from the United States,” according to the omroepbaas.
