Basketball Den Bosch incorporated by sportmarketeer
Basketballclub Shooters Den Bosch has been taken over by sportmarketeer Bob van Oosterhout. In the summer seemed to be the 16-times champion is still going bankrupt because of a late payment of 250,000 euros.
“New in the Netherlands, but nothing special in, for example, the American sport,” says Van Oosterhout, managing director of Brabant sportmarketingbureau Triple Double, on the new construction.
“Many of the major sports clubs there are in the hands of entrepreneurs and, consequently, commercially and professionally run. In my eyes the absolute future of the sport.”
According to chairman Albert Dominicus, there had to be some change because of the financial problems the club the last few months knew. “We have a strong remediation is behind us and therefore a lot of sponsors, suppliers and fans will have questions. In that situation, we wanted to never end up touching.”
Van Oosterhout, who between 1993 and 1997, the manager of the Bossche club, will be assisted by clubicoon Jos Frederiks, who will be responsible for the technical matters.
The 40-year-old Frederick came as a player for many years for Den Bosch. After his active career he led in 2010 as general manager once a clean-up at the club. A year ago he stopped as a technical manager at the Shooters.
Den Bosch was in 2015 for the last time won the national championship, but fell last season in fianciële problems, inter alia because the main sponsor, SPM Shoes & Boots BV after three years stopped.
Van Oosterhout and Fredriks go directly to find a new lender, though, they emphasize that they do not intend to radically changing things.
“Jos and I will take some time for things to adjust. Both sporting, organisational and commercial. But we also in no hurry. Everyone is the most benefit from a solid foundation,” says Van Oosterhout.
The Dutch basketbalseizoen starts Saturday with the Super Cup between champion Donar from Groningen and a cup winner in Den Bosch.
