Barefoot: a quirky festival in bare feet

Artist Charlotte De Cock is organising this summer again Barefoot festival, a.k.a. the most eccentric festival of our country. Or did you earlier this year, with your bare feet in the grass, dressed up as a free bird dancing on technobeats while an art installation to admire?

An eccentric festival where art, music and creativity meet each other: so you can Barefoot the best way to describe. For organiser Charlotte De Cock is Barefoot for three years already, her annual creative outlet. The Antwerp artist designs, builds and organizes the festival itself, and throughout the day, even behind the turntables.

“I try to be with Barefoot, every year, a new experience. Many festivals revolve only around music or partying, but on Barefoot, the experience is central. By itself, the stages to build, by with handmade decoration and arts centres to develop and a unique dress code to enter, we try visitors something excentrieks store that they have not yet experienced.” said Charlotte De Cock.

Burning Man

The Antwerp took its inspiration from the American Burning Man, that for years turns out with artistic venues and eccentric line-ups. Also the one-with-the-nature-philosophy is carried on Barefoot: the stocks are composed of recycled materials and you can just relax on the sofas which are made of painted tractor tires.

The art installation is taken care of by Georges Cuvillier (B) that a 20m long tunnel will be build with bamboo stems that are up to 11m high to reach. Nachtcollectief is enabled to make a permanent sunset to stage with the help of a special light show. The early birds can even participate in a yoga and brunch session under the guidance of Nina The Man.

There will of course also be dancing. Headliner this year is the Italian Agents, or time, assisted by o.a. Maya Cox, Renee, Vision Machine, Audio Boulevard, Charlotte De Cock himself and others.
