Baptist church camp establishes itself in the lawsuit over the rape girl

OKLAHOMA CITY – The operators of an Oklahoma church camp, where a man working as a chef raped a 13-year-old Texas girl have settled a lawsuit with the girl of the family.

The Oklahoman reports that the settlement details were not disclosed, including any cash settlement, but that the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma agreed to take unspecified steps to improve the safety at the Falls Creek camp.

Prosecutors say the 37-year-old Benjamin Small raped the girl in 2016, while they went to the camp, where each year, about 50,000 people per year.

Petty was spared prison time when he pleaded guilty in January 2018 to the first degree of rape. He was sentenced to 15 years probation.

The plea deal led to anger among victims ‘ rights advocates who said, not in the possession of the perpetrators responsible the wrong message.

The officer of justice, who agreed with the deal said he did that because Petty was legally blind. The prosecutor later resigned .
