Ballet dancer Artur Shesterikov wins Radiusprijs
The Russian ballet dancer Artur Shesterikov, first soloist of The National Ballet, is the winner of the Alexandra Radiusprijs.
He got the prize, 2,500 euros and a work of art, Wednesday evening from the hands of former prima ballerina Alexandra Radius at the Gala of the National Ballet.
Shesterikov is according to the jury, “both a danseur noble as one of the pillars of The National Ballet, sympathetic, and modest”.
The Russian, who since 2007 at the largest ballet company of the Netherlands is affiliated, was in 2010, second soloist, and in 2012 was promoted to first soloist. Shesterikov occurs in most of the classical ballets, but also in the work of such choreographers as George Balanchine, William Forsythe and Benjamin Millepied.
The Gala of the National Ballet is the opening of the balletseizoen. During this edition, the spotlight under focused more on first soloist Igone de Jongh, who the year of its twentieth anniversary, the company celebrates.
