A Delta Air Lines baggage handler has been arrested after $ 300,000 in cash, went missing on Wednesday at john f. Kennedy International Airport in New York City, authorities said.

The money was to be transported to the airport in just eight sacks, and was destined to be the Delta Flight 1225, the court documents state. He is accused of snagging one of the bags out of an armored vehicle during a transmission, according to the documents.

The loss was detected when the plane touched down in Florida; a member of the armored car’s security team, said one of the bags was missing, the documents state.

“The alleged actions of the employee are acceptable and in no way reflect the professionalism and values that we expect of the Delta team members,” Delta said in a statement after the suspension of the Thorp. “We are taking this situation very seriously and are working directly with authorities on their investigation, as well as conducting an internal investigation of our own.”

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Police department and the FBI are investigating.
