Bad year for French and British tourism
France and the United Kingdom were last year, fewer tourists on the floor. In most other European countries there was a degree of growth in the number of overnight stays of travellers.
All together we stayed there in 2016, more than 2.8 billion times people sleep in hotels, holiday parks and campsites in the European Union. That is about 2 percent more than in 2015, according to new figures from the European statistics agency Eurostat.
The attacks plagued France saw the number of overnight stays, however, with almost a 5 percent decrease to 395 million. Accommodations in the United Kingdom, that has decided out of the EU, it had to do with 292 million sleepers, which represents a decrease of 4.5 percent.
Spain was very much in demand. On the costa’s and in the interior was a total of 454 million times, spent the night, an increase of a small 8 percent compared with a year earlier.
The strongest relative growth was measured in Bulgaria, which is a plus of 18 percent recorded. The Netherlands were in these provisional figures no data is yet available.
