AZ has a healthy selection against Irish champion Dundalk
AZ coach John van den Brom can Thursday night on a full selection available during the first duel in the group stage of the Europa League against Dundalk FC.
“Everyone is fit,” said Van den Brom on Wednesday at the press conference about the game against the Irish champion in Alkmaar.
Van den Brom, denies the opponent to be underestimated. “We play against the leader of the Irish league which is almost for the group stage of the Champions League place, so we have a lot of respect for Dundalk,” he said.
AZ is in the group further classified with Maccabi Tel Aviv and Zenit St. Petersburg. The club from Alkmaar is aiming at the second place, according to Van den Brom.
The coach will see Zenit as the big favourite. “Zenit jumps out for me, that is an absolute top club. The other three teams will have to compete for that second position. I think that we can claim because we have experience and quality in the squad and it is a time where you have to make.”
Van den Brom, won by his former colleague at Anderlecht, Besnik Hasi, information. Hasi is now coach of Legia Warsaw, at the expense of Dundalk for the Champions League placed.
“Dundalk is not a typical British opponent, with the so-called ‘kick and rush’football, but look for the combination and the footballing solution.”
AZ will then also stuck to their game, says Van den Brom. “We have Dabney Dos Santos and Alireza Jahanbakhsh fast guys on the flanks. Also for Fred Friday is it good to play soccer. It would be stupid to fully go forward.”
