Award for the choreographer Toer van Schayk
Choreographer Toer van Schayk may henceforth an Officer in the Order of Orange-Nassau. Minister Jet Bussemaker (Culture) presented the award for Van Schayk Wednesday night on the stage of National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam.
He owes the promotion to an officer on his merits as a dancer, choreographer, designer, and sculptor.
Bussemaker called Van Schayk a centipede. “He is not in a box to stop, and that makes him a wonderful, unique human being”, said the minister.
On 28 september, the famous choreographer 80 years. To celebrate, dances by The National Ballet, under the umbrella of the Dutch Masters two ballets of the Native and ballets of his colleagues, Rudi van Dantzig and Hans van Manen. Together, they acquired world-wide fame as the three “Of’s”, referring to their last names.
Dutch Masters is still on until 25 september.
