Australia baffled by American police shot dead compatriot
The Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull is demanding clarification from the Us authorities over the death of the Australian Justine Damond. She died after she was shot by the police in Minneapolis (Minnesota).
Turnbull mentions that Wednesday in an interview “shocking” and “inexplicable”.
Damond died last weekend after an agent to her through the window of a police car had shot. The woman was in her pyjamas to the vehicle run after they themselves, the police had called. She suspected that a sexual assault took place in her neighborhood.
Turnbull responded Wednesday stunned at the death of his compatriot. “How is it possible that a woman on the street in her pyjamas to ask for help, in this way it is shot?”, he asked himself, aloud. “We demand answers on behalf of her family.”
One of the involved agents, Matthew Harrity, declared according to local authorities, to be startled by a noise in his patrol car. When Damond then appeared next to the car, fired the other agent in the vehicle his weapon. Both men are on leave sent.
