An Arkansas police officer, was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop Tuesday night, according to various reports.
Officer Brent Scrimshire, the Hot Springs Police Department, was transported to a hospital and later died from his injuries.
The suspect was also shot during the exchange of gunfire, but the gunman’s name and medical condition were not immediately known.

The other departments in the region tweeted their condolences to the family of the fallen officer, as well as the Hot Springs police department.
The Pulaski County Sherriff’s office — located about 50 miles north-northeast of the Hot Springs — and said that it was “a broken heart” and the “loss of a hero tonight.”
Further to the north, the Conway Police Department, says that their thoughts were at the Scrimshire family. She added: “We will stand with you.”
