At least 25 dead in bomb attack on convoy of senator Pakistan
At least 25 people are to live when Friday, a bomb exploded on a convoy with the vice-chairman of the Pakistani Senate.
At least 35 people were injured. The attack is claimed by Islamic State (IS). It IS affiliated news agency Amaq reports that the suicide attack was carried out with a bomvest.
The bomb exploded in the restive province of Baluchistan, where separatists as islamic extremists are active. “My convoy drove to Mastung when a explosion took place. There are a lot of victims”, had senator Abdul Ghafoor Haideri minutes after the explosion by telephone know.
The politician suspects that he was the target of the attack, in which he injuries hit. His driver was less fortunate and came according to the police. On television footage shows that a vehicle has been completely destroyed by the explosion. At least ten victims are, according to a local official in critical condition in the hospital.
Senator Haideri is a member of the radical sunni party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam. Supporters and politicians of the party had already been the target of attacks. The senator has now been transferred to the hospital.
