AS Roma last Friday after a long wait, the green light given to a new stadium to build. The Stadio della Rome occurs in the district of Tor di Valle and will offer some 52,000 spectators.
The agreement is the result of consultation between the American president James Pallotta of the Italian club and mayor Virginia Raggi of Rome.
AS Roma had wanted to for years a new stadium build. However, it wasn’t long until all involved parties are aligned.
The club of Kevin Strootman unfolded in march 2014 its final plans with the idea that the new headquarters in 2016 to be ready.
“It was a long, long journey,” said Pallotta. “It feels a bit like it must have been for our Roman ancestors on one of their long veroveringstochten. This is an important evening for AS Roma.”
AS Roma plays its home games now remaining in the old Stadio Olimpico, which it shares with fellow-townsman Lazio. Around the new stadium, that comes to stand on the banks of the Tiber river, great shops and restaurants built.
The total project will cost approximately 2 billion euros, of which about 400 million euro is reserved for the stadium. It is not yet known when everything is ready.
AS Roma is the current number two of the Serie A. Strootman collected his club in 25 games 56 points. Behind leader Juventus is seven points.
