Ariana Grande came to the defense of her comedian fiance, Pete Davidson, after a joke he made, referring to the 2017 terror attack on Grande Manchester concert popped up in the light of their commitment.
“This is v tough & conflicting in my heart. he used comedy to help ppl feel better ab how f-ed up things are in this world,” Grande, 25, tweeted on Thursday in response to a fan tweet read, “I don’t know why she was still with Pete.”
According to the BRITISH Mirror, Davidson cracked the joke during a Puerto Rico hurricane relief event in the autumn, months before he was romantically linked to Grande. Speaking about the moment that he realized how famous Grande was, he joked during his set, “Britney Spears is not about a terrorist attack at her concert.”
The mother of one of the teenagers killed in the attack called for “SNL” star-Davidson’s apology. “For anyone to joke about this situation is disgusting and I think he should openly apologize for it,” she told the Mirror. “The families are just as disgusting.”
However, the “Sweetener” singer tried to rationalize her beau’s actions for the disappointed fans.
“We all deal w trauma otherwise,” Grande stated of her fiance, whose father was murdered on September 11. “Of course I have not find it funny. it was months ago, and that his intention was not/ is never malicious, but it was a pity.”
Davidson, who often mentions his deceased father in the stand-up routines, has his Instagram comment is flooded with Arianators demanding he apologizes for his tone-deaf joke or that Grande let him.
Davidson’s rep not immediately respond to request for comment.
