Ariana Grande is ‘very helpful and effective’ Mac Miller ‘s sobriety, the late rapper’s friend, Shane Powers, said in the latest episode of the podcast.
Mac Miller’s old friend, Shane Powers, is the refrain of the rapper, who died last Friday at the age of 26 years, with an apparent overdose in his home in California.
In the latest episode of the podcast, The Shane Show, Powers opened up about Miller’s struggle with addiction. At one point he is even credited for the late rapper’s ex-girlfriend, Ariana Grande, for “incredibly involved and helpful with Miller’s sobriety journey.
“[Mac and Ariana] were very much in love and I must say, she was incredible when he was first sober,” Powers said. “She was a f–king G to him. There could not be anyone more supportive of him sober than Ariana. I saw that I was in the neighborhood, I took phone calls from her. “How can I help? What should I do?’ This little girl is very involved and helpful to have him healthy.”

“Or he is an addict or not, the way Mac party was not healthy,” Powers continued. “[And] there was no one in his life, more ready to go to the wall for him, when he came to him when you’re sober. [Ariana] had an incredibly stabilizing force in his life and it was very useful and effective in keeping Mac clean, sober and helps him get sober. She was all about him healthy. Period.”
Prior to his death, Miller was arrested and later charged with two counts of driving under the influence in August after a May DUI arrest in Los Angeles, California. A spokesman for the LA City Attorney’s Office told ET on Monday that the case is now expected to be dropped.

“Usually if we have a suspect who died during a criminal case is pending, our office will take steps to have the case removed from the court schedule and later file a motion to dismiss the case in the interest of justice,” the spokesman said. “The movement in the Miller case has not yet been submitted, but I expect the office will take those steps within the next few days.”
Grande and Miller called it in the beginning of May, after nearly two years of dating, and the “Sweetener” singer has since moved on with “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson. When the two became engaged in June after just a few weeks of dating, many hit Grande, with some even her the blame for Miller’s DUI and, ultimately, his death.

The 25-year-old singer via Twitter following Miller’s first arrest, responds directly to one of the trolls who believed that the hair is to blame for the rapper — who had always been vocal about his struggle with sobriety and depression — got in trouble with the law.
“How absurd is the minimization of female self-respect and self-esteem by saying that someone should stay in a toxic relationship, because he wrote an album about them, that the vat is not the case (just Cinderella is me ab),” Grande tweeted at the time. “I’m not a babysitter or a mother, and no woman should feel that they need to be. I have cared for him and tried to put his sobriety and prayed for his balance sheet for the years (and always will of course) but shaming/women are to blame for a man is not able to keep his s–t together is a very big problem.”
“Let us please stop doing that,” she continued. “Of course I didn’t have to tell you how difficult or scary it was, as it happened, but it was. I will continue to pray from the bottom of my heart that he has all the figures and that the only other woman in this position no good.”
Since Miller’s death, Grande has yet to publicly break her silence, but a shared captionless, black-and-white photo of her ex-boyfriend on Instagram.

A source also told ET that the Boca Raton, Florida, native is “broken” by her ex died.
“Although the two the end of their relationship, Ariana always shared a deep connection with the Mac and wanted nothing but the best for him,” the source added. “Ariana is very upset.”
