“Falling out of touch with my father,” said she was one of the hardest things she ever had to deal with. “It’s private, but it happened last year. It took so long to be okay with him. The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I of the half of my father, and a lot of my traits come from him. So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself. I had to accept that it’s ok not to get along with somebody and still love them.”
Despite their bad relationship, Grande Butera remained in touch over the years.
They even reunited in December 2016, according to a selfie Butera placed. Grande also shared an old photo of her father and her as a baby for father’s day 2017.
