(Reuters) – Apple Inc said on Wednesday it was directly or indirectly responsible for about 2.4 million AMERICAN jobs, an increase of 20% from the 2 million in the technology company’s estimate of 2017.
The iPhone-maker said, her staff grew from 80,000 to 90,000 in the 2-1/2 years since the last AMERICAN job to assess. However, the majority of the growth came from companies such as Broadcom Inc., which share in the United States, to be used with Apple products, as well as the third-party software developers to create apps for the Apple devices.
App-related jobs amounted to eur 1.9 million, up 325,000 from the previous estimates, the Cupertino, Calif. – based company said in a press release on its web site.
Apple did not say how it arrived at its estimates, or how it was funded. The estimates suggest that indirect employment might vary a lot, depending on how the analysis is carried out.
Apple has faced criticism, including from the U.S. President and Donald Trump for the contracting industry in the assembly of most of its products in China. Apple has countered that it will spend $60 billion on products and services from U.S.-based suppliers by 2018, and plans to increase that to $350 billion by 2023.
Apple said in December it would spend $1 billion to build a new campus in Austin, Texas, for up to 15,000 employees, and how to add the direct jobs are in Seattle, San Diego and Culver City, California, usa.
