Apple is engaged in a prolonged negotiation with the Us film studios about the price of ultra hd movies on the new Apple TV set-top box.
That reports the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday on the basis of insiders who are familiar with the negotiations.
Apple would be up to $ 20 like to ask for the movies, just as much as for some of the new movies in full hd resolution. The film studios would want that Apple 25, or 30 dollars per film asks.
The negotiation is reminiscent of the beginning of the music store iTunes. Former Apple director Steve Jobs was there when that songs a maximum of 1 dollar would cost and that albums for 10 dollars sold would be. Record labels wanted higher prices, but finally I succeeded Jobs to ” his ” prices to enforce, inter alia, because labels are heavily affected by piracy and snakten to a popular legal alternative.
The Hollywood studios, however, would have control over their own prices want to keep it. “I would also not Apple to tell what they are for their iPads need to ask”, says a source inside a studio at the Wall Street Journal.
Reportedly Apple is planning to next month the new Apple TV to announce it. Therein for the first time, support for 4K videos to be introduced. During a press event on september 12 presents Apple is also expected to be new iPhones and new Apple Watch.
The market for digital ultra hd movies is still quite small. Streaming services like Netflix offer new movies and tv series in 4K, but the separate sale of such material is still in its infancy. Apple has not on the rumor responded and has no official invitations sent out for event on september 12.
