Apple has the control system, Activation Lock status checker offline. With this software, people could check or Apple devices that are offered for sale stolen or lost.

The service was over iCloud.com to achieve this, but MacRumors has discovered that the page has been removed. It is not yet clear why the service is no longer offered.

Activation Lock is automatically activated on every iPod, iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch, the service’s ‘Find My Device’ is used.

Devices with an Apple Lock can only be used if the Apple ID and password of the owner is entered, even if the device is being erased or reactivated.

Control

Through the Activation Lock status checker could be controlled or a device such a lock has by the serial number of the device. If there is a lock, then it is possible that the device is stolen or found.

It is according to Apple the responsibility of consumers to check whether the device that they would like to purchase is deleted and is no longer linked to a different account, if the device is not an Apple store is sold.
