WASHINGTON – A senior U.S. official says the Obama administration is aware of frequent contacts between the President-elect ‘Donald Trump’ s top national security adviser, and the Russian ambassador in the United States.
The official says that the contacts happened on the day that President Barack Obama expelled dozens of Russian officials from the V. S. and sanctions as punishment for the election related to hacking. The official says the administration also is aware of the contacts between the Trump adviser Michael Flynn and Ambassador Sergei Kislyak other times.
The day after Obama announced sanctions, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he does not take revenge. Trump commended him for his restraint.
Flynn talks were first reported by the Washington Post columnist David Ignatius. The official was not authorized to confirm that the contacts in the public and spoke on condition of anonymity.
