BERLIN – A senior Russian legislator says he can’t understand why President Donald Trump of the former national security adviser Michael Flynn failed to immediately reveal the truth about his contacts with the Russian ambassador.
Flynn last week pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his December 2016 discussions with the Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak. The prosecutors said: he is now together with special counsel Robert Mueller investigation.
Konstantin Kosachev, head of the foreign affairs committee in the Russian parliament’s upper house, told The Associated Press Tuesday that Flynn contacts with Kislyak were “absolutely correct,” adding that “I can’t understand why he doesn’t tell the entire truth from the beginning.”
Prosecutors say Flynn asked Kislyak, “not to escalate the situation” after retiring Obama administration imposed sanctions on Russia in retaliation for suspected election interference.
