“We don’t have a left party in the United States. The democratic party is not a left party,” the freshman Congressman began, which triggered applause from the audience. “The democratic party is a center or a center party, the conservatives.”
She continued, “We can’t selected a floor vote on Medicare-for-all-once a floor is chosen. We can’t vote once. So this is not a left-wing party. It Links members within the Democratic party that the work, to try to get this change to happen.”

“Because there are these gun rights protest that we are in Richmond … on MLK day, but here is the image of the [stuck] with me the most about this is that, when we go out and March for dignity and the recognition of the life of the people such as Freddie Gray and Eric Garner,” Ocasio-Cortez explains, “the whole place is surrounded by cops in riot gear, without a weapon in sight. And here all these people are flying Confederate flags, with semi-automatic weapons, and there are almost no police officers, the protest.”
Then she asked, “So who or what our institutions for the protection of who? And that picture conveys it all, taught it all.”
