Antonio Banderas will play Pablo Picasso in the National Geographic series Genius
Antonio Banderas is the role of artist Pablo Picasso playing in the second season of the National Geographic series Genius
Reports that Variety.
The first season of the Genius revolved around Einstein, who was played by Geoffrey Rush. The series was nominated for ten emmys and viewed worldwide by more than 45 million viewers.
“Antonio was a natural choice,” says executive producer Ron Howard. “Just like Picasso, he has a clear outlook on life and that adds to the sincerity that we were looking for. Antonio has such a big range as an actor, I do know for sure that he is brilliant and unconventional artist perfectly to life,” says the producer.
Banderas is also very happy with his role. “The life story of Picasso has always fascinated me and I have so much respect for this man, who, like me, from Málaga is coming,” says the actor. “I feel honored that I work with National Geographic and the authentic story should tell of one of the most innovative painters in the world,” said Banderas.
Banderas was previously shown in the Spy Kids series, Machete Kills, Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico The Mask of Zorro. Also, the actor can be heard in the Shrek movies as the character Puss in Boots.
