Antiviruspionier McAfee arranges lawsuit with Intel over naamgebruik
John McAfee, the man who became known with anti-virus software that his surname was wearing, suitable in a lawsuit against Intel.
The security company McAfee was in 2014 rebranded to Intel Security, but that change was earlier this year reversed.
John McAfee by Intel warned that he trademark rights of the chip manufacturer would infringe by his own name to use on cybersecurityproducten. There was the antiviruspionier don’t agree with that, so he complained to Intel.
McAfee wanted his company MGT Capital Investments the name John McAfee Global Technologies. In the settlement, he has promised that he will not do and that his name is not on cybersecurityproducten will pair, reports Reuters on Thursday.
He may also the term John McAfee Privacy Phone is not in use. That is a secure smartphone that McAfee in april of this year announced. It is still unclear when the Android device should appear in and what the new name will be.
Under the terms of the settlement, John McAfee, the right to use his name in ads or for activities that have nothing to do with cybersecurity.
The company McAfee is now spun-out of Intel. Investment firm TPG has acquired a majority stake acquired, but Intel still has 49 percent of the shares in the hands.
