Anti-rookvereniging start legal proceedings against the extreme thuisrokers
People in their home environment cause a nuisance with their smoking habits, should by law be required to put their cigarette out. That sets the anti-rookvereniging Clean Air in the Netherlands. The association will this year file a lawsuit.
Clean Air Netherlands, collected over the past years, hundreds of complaints of Dutch citizens who may be experiencing nuisance from their smoking neighbors.
“Often times it is older people who are at home all day in the smoke of the people living in the house next to it or under live. Another example is that asthmatics a sigarettenwalm in their house to get the neighbors on the balcony to smoke,” says chairman Tom Feet of Clean Air Netherlands, The Telegraaf.
According to the association of death each year thousands of Dutch people to the consequences of second-hand smoke. In Germany, in 2015, a cigar smoking man out of his rented house because his neighbors, the nuisance of the smoke. Clean Air Netherlands will find this also in the Netherlands.
According to professor of public-orderecht Michel Vols is a small chance that the judge is to be considered in the requirement of the association. “Smoking is something that is still generally accepted. I think there legal also be taken into account. But it is interesting to see what happens if it really comes to court.”
