Evangeline Lilly reveals she nearly quit acting after her time on “Lost.”
“Ant-Man and Wasp” star Evangeline Lilly showed Thursday she decided to retire to act after the completion of the hit series “Lost” before director Peter Jackson pulled her back.
Lilly, 38, said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the international fame they received from “Lost” her “uncomfortable” and they really decided to quit acting before Jackson wanted to cast her in “The Hobbit” trilogy.
“I have made a decision and I decided to go do the film. I had a great time with the making of that film: One of the highlights in my life was the life in New Zealand for that year and a part of that family,” Lilly said. “That helped opened my eyes to the fact that, OK, this job is a joy, it’s just a matter of how you approach it and what you do, how much I put myself out there, and to a certain degree, how much I work.”

When she was finished doing press for “The Hobbit”, she was asked to play a character in the Marvel films and decided that they would have to make a decision whether to continue with acting.

“So that is what I finally make the decision. I thought, ” well, I’m a smart lady. I can figure this out. I’m going to figure out a way to do this and be happy.’ And I’m, I’m very pleased, I had a great time promoting this film, and I had a great time talking to people about the things I worry about, because this movie brings so many cool problems,” Lilly said.
“Ant-Man and Wasp” opened in theaters Friday.
