A wrongfully convicted man who 39 years in prison in California at the time, will receive millions in compensation.
The city of Simi Valley came up with the 71-year-old Craig Coley a compensatiebetaling equivalent of about 19 million euros (21 million dollars), according to a statement from the authorities this weekend. The city has thus avoided that the to a process.
Coley was in 1978 sentenced to life in prison for a double murder of his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend and her 4-year-old son. He kept always maintained that he was innocent.
A DNA test later revealed that he the crime could not have committed. Coley came in november 2017 free after the then-governor of California, Jerry Brown, grace granted.
