WARSAW, Poland – American soldiers are rolling in Poland, the fulfilment of a dream of Poland since the fall of communism in 1989, the AMERICAN troops on their territory as a deterrent against Russia.

The U.S. Army vehicles and soldiers in camouflage crossed into the south-west of Poland on Thursday morning from Germany and were on their way to Zagan, where they will be based.

US and other Western countries have carried out exercises on NATO’s eastern flank, but this US deployment will be the first continuous commitment to the region by a NATO ally.

Despite the celebrations, a cloud also depends on the historical moment: fears that the increased security may ultimately be undermined by the pro-Kremlin views of the President-elect of Donald Trump.

Poland and the Baltic states are nervous about Russian assertiveness displayed in Ukraine and Syria.
