Amber Alert canceled for missing toddler; mother was buried

SODUS, n.y. – Authorities have canceled an Amber Alert for the missing toddler whose mother was found buried on the north of the state of New York farm where she worked.

Wayne County authorities issued the alert for the 14-month-old Owen Hidalgo-Calderon on 25 May. Two days earlier, searchers found the body of 18-year-old Guatemala native Selena Hidalgo-Calderon. They were last seen May 16.

Authorities did not immediately explain why the warning was cancelled. They say that the investigation into Owen’s whereabouts remains.

Also Tuesday, the mother of the boyfriend, Ebavardo Gutierrez Reyes, is by the court on evidence tampering charges.

Sheriff’s officials say Reyes gives buried Hidalgo-Calderon’s body, but not killing her.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement, says Reyes, a Mexican citizen, was removed in 2016 and 2017 and sentenced for illegal entry.
