Amazon’s new beauty store for pros is a threat to the beauty retailers

(Ap) – Inc. on Monday unveiled its online professional beauty store, selling supplies to licensed professional hairdressers, hair stylists and beauty professionals, weighing on shares of other beauty retailers.

It would have to sell a huge range of brands from Wella Color Charm, and the BISCUIT-to-I’s Professional, and other equipment commonly found in salons and spas, Amazon said in a blog post.

Following Amazon’s announcement, shares of the beauty retailers, Ulta Beauty, Inc., fell about 3%, and those of Sally Beauty Holdings have decreased by 9%.

“Artists are able to find what they need at a great price with convenient delivery options, free up their time to focus on what matters most-their customers,” said Steve May, director of customer experience for Amazon business.

The company was started in the 1990’s, as a bookseller, and now has its footsteps in various areas of cloud computing, in order to do some shopping.
