Amazon wants to use drones to keep an eye on your home

Retail giant Amazon said that the new drones, which take off and land vertically, using computer vision and machine learning in order to navigate to the drop-off.

Amazon has filed a patent that, in part, to the use of a drone to keep an eye on your home.

The patent, “Unmanned aerial vehicle-based surveillance-as-a-service,” will discuss “surveillance ” alerts” and “surveillance ” action” is done in front of the house. The patent was first spotted by The Telegraph.

“The delivery of a package, with the help of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), can include conducting a surveillance on the property by an authorized party,” according to the Amazon patent, which was filed in June of 2015, and finally granted earlier this month.

It contains different sections, which suggests that the use of a drone for surveillance of the property. “We have some…examples of a surveillance and case…a property of feet, the door is left open or the garage door, and light a fire.”

Others are more specific. “In another case, when a window of a residence was broken, and an unknown vehicle has been detected to the outside of a house, the likelihood of an intruder in the house, it can be very high,” the patent states.

The other part describes the levels of low, medium and high control is the control on the video and the sending of text alerts. There is also a chapter that gives an overview of the potential for the alerting of the authorities, “the police department or the fire department.”

Amazon has not yet responded to a request for comment for this story.

But, it is a primary object of the patent is aimed at making it possible for the drone delivery service, according to the William Stofega, a drone, an analyst at market researcher IDC.

“Although, I do think that this patent would be able to move to a surveillance authority, it is more about how to turn on the drone-delivery-service,” Stofega told Fox News in an e-mail.

Indeed, the patent states that a UAV can deliver a package as a major job, and ensure the surveillance-as-a-service as a second job.”

Stofega said that at a recent Amazon conference, the chief executive of the Consumers around the World, Jeff, Wilke introduced a new version of a delivery drone, the engine room 27. That drone would have been able to travel the 15 miles and carry packages weighing 5 pounds or less.

“One of the most annoying problems for a self-guided drone to avoid obstacles such as wires, clotheslines, and pet, during the landing process,” Stofega said, adding that the future of Amazon’s drones, the use of stereo vision in conjunction with the AI algorithms for the purpose of detecting people and animals up.

Surveillance technology is becoming one of Amazon’s strong suit. Last year it bought smart home equipment, a maker of Ring, for $1 billion. The Ring’s smart doorbell, you can see a video of the people coming to your door.
