WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc. Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos, on Thursday, promised that the online retailer will become climate neutral by the year 2040, and it said that it would have to have 100,000 electric delivery vehicles as part of the building.
Reducing emissions is a challenging target for Amazon, which delivers 10 billion pieces per year.
Bezos also announced a number of measures at a news conference in Washington ahead of Climate Week in New York next week, a global gathering of the world’s leaders in the business to find ways to help in the fight against climate change.
The Trumpet of management, said in a June 2017 to pull out of the Paris climate agreement.
Bezos also said Amazon was the placing of an order to buy 100,000 electric delivery vehicles by the AMERICAN automotive designer, developer and manufacturer, Rivian Automotive, LLC to and for the use of 100% renewable energy by the year 2030, an increase of over 40% at this time. In the Amazon, and Ford Motor Co. are among the investors in the EV startup. Amazon will invest $100 million to restore forests and wetlands.
Bezos says it is the first EV delivery vehicles on the road in 2021, with 100,000 vehicles by 2024. Bezos also said the company is taking a “careful look” at the political campaign contributions that it makes.
He promised he would try to convince you of a company, the chief executive officer to sign the “Climate Pledge.” A Rivian spokesperson for the police said that the cars in front of the Amazon, and will be assembled in Illinois, and 10,000 on the road by the end of 2022.
