Amazon has done a very good job of all of us buy things on the internet, and in the process we have seen the decline of the companies selling via catalogs sent to your house. Now Amazon is thought that the embrace of the older way of convenient shopping by the sending of millions of printed toy catalogues.
As Bloomberg reports, Amazon is set to print toy catalogs to send in time for the holidays. With snail mail, millions of these catalogs will be sent to homes in the US, while everyone else is shopping at a Whole Foods have the catalogue handed to them.
This may seem like an unusual step for Amazon, but Jeff Bezos is no dummy when it comes to spotting an opportunity. Toys “R” Us is no more, but the company managed to generate $6.5 billion in sales last year with the sale of toys. Bezos wants to sell these to Amazon, and a printed catalog, just like Toys “R” Us used to offer a relatively cheap experiment for a company as big as Amazon to try.
Another advantage of the printed catalog is the reach of consumers who don’t yet make use of the internet to shop, or who haven’t used Amazon for. For many, especially older consumers, the catalog is a trusted way to shop and Amazon can use it as a gateway to their online store.

The process of choosing something from the catalog to buy will be it as simple as possible, and may be associated with the Amazon app and phone/tablet camera. There is no doubt that it is going to be a number that you can call to place an order, to go, and would you bet against a “First prize” is shown (lower) than the normal price? I would not.
