SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Amazon.com Inc., will be the launch of its virtual assistant, Alexa, in Brazil as of this month, with plans for three different devices with the software already installed, and if it is, quickly expanding operations into Latin America’s largest economy.
The move comes just three weeks after the end of the e-commerce giant launched its first subscription service for the Brazilian consumers, the toughening of competition with the local merchants by offering an unlimited nationwide with free shipping and up to a maximum of 48 hours, delivery in more than 90 cities.
“This is a very exciting time for the Amazon jungle in Brazil,” the Amazon, the international director of the, Alexa, Michele Butti, told reporters on Wednesday, adding that the company has hired a local team to be able to adjust So of the Portuguese language.
Amazon is offering discounts on pre-orders for two out of the three So components -, Echo-and Echo-Stip-Show-5 – which will also be available at some brick-and-mortar stores, the local retailer, Fast Shop, Oct. 8. The third one is the so-called Amazon Eco, which is available from the month of November.
Ricardo Garrido, a country manager, So, in Brazil, the US giant is considering the sale of these gadgets in different Brazilian retail chains, to move forward, and it is also not possible to rule out any possible alliances with local telecommunication operators.
Both executives said that the company will be importing all three of the devices are made in China, but declined to specify volumes or the amount of, Amazon is expected to sell in the country.
