Beachvolleyballers Christiaan Varenhorst and Maarten van Garderen Tuesday in the second round achieved at the world CHAMPIONSHIPS in Vienna. It means that all the Dutch duo’s the group stage have survived in Austria.
Varenhorst and Van Garderen beat in the third and final team contest, the Cubans Daisel Quesada and Karrell Piña: 21-15 and 22-20.
Two victories in three games in group D was for the Dutch couple, enough to qualify for the next round in Austria.
Previously got Alexander Brouwer and Robert Meeuwsen are already among the last 32. The world champions of 2013 are still without setverlies.
The women assured the duo’s Manon Flier/Marleen van Iersel and Madeleine Meppelink/Sophie van Gestel of a place in the next round.
Wednesday is the second round for the women on the program. Thursday is the turn of the men.
