Almost half of the Greek island of Thasos is on fire

By forest fires on the Greek island of Thasos is now almost half the island on fire. Anywhere in the southern half of Thasos, there is fire.
The inferno is so large that the fire brigade must be limited to prevent the fire to the north reached.
Hundreds of firefighters are on the Aegean island of Thasos to work. Planes and helicopters are used to water about endangered areas ui to deposit. Four firefighters are injured. Also several residents were injured. Prime minister Alexis Tsipras will visit the affected island Monday.
Thasos is located in the northern part of the Aegean Sea and has more than 14,000 residents. For comparison, the island with its 380 square kilometres, more than two times larger than the island of Texel.
Due to the heavy fires and called the authorities before the emergency. Previously the two villages fully evacuated. A firefighter was injured when fighting the inferno.
