Ali B sees himself as a court jester. The 35-year-old Moroccan rapper, comedian, presenter and stand-up comedian sees his job as taboos by jokes about.
That explains the rapper Thursday night in crowded Halls, the AVROTROS program of Cornald Maas.
“A court jester can cut loose and pulls all the tension on those issues away by jokes. And he allowed that,” says Ali B.
He is to his own words, from childhood on, all of a fool. “I come from the Moroccan culture and there you have a lot of taboos. I was maybe six years and then they said all: that boy encourages not let him. At a given moment, I’m really each year used to do things that you really should not do in the Moroccan culture.”
Ali B close itself, still the same function. “That excitement around all kinds of topics is just not fine. Some people have the talent to on that subject to say things that are wrong would be covered if someone else would say it. But as the court jester it says, everyone must laugh.”
His work as a court jester, there probably never was, treasure Ali B in. “A court jester will always be new topics that will be tense, should be discharged by means of humor. That’s just my thing in life.”
