An Alabama police officer was in critical but stable condition Wednesday afternoon after she was shot in the head while answering a domestic violence call, FOX10 reported.
The shooter, 27-year-old Matthew Blake Richardson, led police on a short foot chase, but he was injured during his capture and later died from the injuries.
“He immediately opened fire when the agents arrived, striking one of the police officers in the head,” Saraland police commissioner James West said during a press conference. “My director is in critical condition and we ask the community and everyone for their prayers.”
Tucker’s husband is a member of the Mobile Police Department.
Authorities were called to the property as a result of a fight between Richardson and his grandfather. The police had responded to previous calls where Richardson, FOX10 reported.
