The mayor of an Alabama town, was on Thursday arrested for allegedly slapping a city with a female employee that worked for him, in the face of an argument, officials say, was caught on camera.

Mike McMillan, mayor of Spanish Fort, is a town of about 9,000 residents in the Baldwin County, was taken into custody in connection with an alleged Oct. 1 point of attack.

The employee claims that there has already been done, and what had happened to it,” city attorney David Conner told WALA-TV. “I’m sure that the mayor would take a position on how that was done, and we’ll let them unfold, and go from there.”

The city has opened an investigation into the alleged blow, Oct. 7, and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, allegedly signed.

“There are a number of video footage that the cameras have caught it,” Conner said. “We’ve had some request to the record, we’re reviewing this request now and we will give the answers as they relate to this request.”

McMillan was charged with misdemeanor stalking and released on $500 bond shortly after his arrest on Thursday. The mayor, who was not at work on Friday and has so far not commented on the allegations.
