Ajax hopes Wednesday night in the uitduel with OGC Nice in the third qualifying round of the Champions League to put an end to a bad series of races on French soil, where fifteen years ago, the last was won.

The Amsterdam, which is Nice for the first encounter in a European context, did the last six races in France not to win. There was five times lost and once gelijkgespeeld.

On 30 October 2002, overcame Ajax for the last time on a visit to a French club when Olympique Lyon in the group stage of the Champions League with 0-2 was set aside. Steven Pienaar and Rafael van der Vaart made at the time the goals.

At the Allianz Riviera and OGC Nice is the team of coach Marcel Keizer statistically, for a heavy task because the French lost only four of the last nineteen European thuisduels. A hopeful sign is that two of those defeats in the last three home games came to be.

Ajax has fond memories of the last encounter with a club from the Ligue 1. Last season placed the team by the then coach Peter Bosz themselves at the expense of Lyon for the Europa League final.

In the Parc Olympique Lyonnais lost the Locals the return, although with 3-1, but that was enough after the previous 4-1 victory in your own home.
