Air India flights from New Jersey contaminated with bed bugs, and passengers claim

Several passengers of the past week have complained about the fact that getting bitten by bed bugs on Air India flights.

Passengers on several Air India flights from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey have reported being bit by bed bugs over the past week.

Pravin Tonsekar posted a picture of multiple bed bugs, the claim of the business class seats he and his family were in their 17-hour flight to Mumbai were “filled with bed bugs.”

Toneskar continue to accuse the airline of a negative trip, tweeting that his wife and daughters had to suffer the half of the trip sitting in the economy seats with broken tables and lost TV” after the crew of the flight to move them because of the bed bugs.

Another passenger, Vivek Modi, said that he could see bed bugs crawling around on the seats, the Hindustan Times reported.

Air India achieved Toneskar, who said that his two daughters were bitten “all over their body,” the offering of an excuse.

“We are very sorry to hear this, Mr. Pravin. The sharing of the data with our maintenance team for corrective measures in this regard,” the airline tweeted.

Two days later, a passenger, Rohan, on the way to Mumbai from New Jersey on Air India tweeted, “my wife and three children [flew] business class AI 144 from Newark to mumbai; now they have a bed bug bites all over their body; is this what we paid $10,000 for???”

Rohan said once he got to India, a doctor prescribed his wife 10 days of the medication for bed bug bites.

On Thursday, passengers on a different aircraft of Air India, also on the way to Mumbai, had a bed bug bites – including an 8-month-old baby, who reportedly suffered multiple snacks during the flight.

After the reports, Air India grounded both the aircraft for decontamination.

According to NJ.com a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said the agency has not received reports of bed bugs in the terminal or other parts of the airport.

Air India not immediately respond to a request for comment.
